SoCal Art Unraveled Group

Once a month I get together with a group of like minded artists to share ideas, make art, and just have that special time to bound and play. Reva and Amy Elise head the group and doing a fabulous job in keeping the group present, interesting and creative.
Last month some of us join in to do a chunky book swap. There are 16 of us, book size 4x4", subject the love of friendship. This is my contribution and there are 16, 4x4 pages exactly the same for each participant. I will in turn receive 16 different pages from all other participants to make my chunk book. How wonderful is this? I just love being an artist.

Enrichment Group

I was invited to be part of a group of 8 women calligraphers to participate in a monthly gathering of creative minds. We are all part of the Society for Calligraphy and several of us know each other for about 25 years. We call ourselves "The Enrichment Group".
We met for the first time last month and set out to all do a project for the next meeting which will be on Tuesday. This is the results of my project.
I feel very honored to be part of this wonderfully talented group of artists.

Ariana

An original, custom, Valentine card made for the daughter of a client as a prerequisite to a custom photo album that I will be creating for her, Ariana.

An original award given to Maestro Lorin Maazel for his work in bringing North Korea and the United States together in a profound performance opening musical communication between the countries.

Zinnia's Heartbreak Reception

February 14th, Valentine's Day and the opening reception at Zinnia where my submission proudly is displayed. It was a great success and it was buzzing with people all evening. My beautiful grand daughter, Izabella, her mommy and daddy, aunt Connie, and lots of friends came to cheer us on. It was a lovely evening indeed.

My Friend, my sister

This is a mixed media, collage painting I did several months ago to sell in Ten Women Gallery. I wanted to hold on to the original so I made a giclee and prints and cards from it and brought those into the gallery and promptly took "Tatiana" (the name of the painting) home with me.

Margaret, my lifelong friend and soul sister, came across the painting while browsing my blog and wanted to buy the original. This was a perfect opportunity for me to give my dearest friend a meaningful gift and a place for Tatiana to live permanently where she would be forever cherished.
Margaret and I celebrated our 18th birthday together (we are now 63) hoping to be carded when we ordered our first legal drink...we come from N.Y. We also lived together in our first home away from home at 335 East 54th Street in Manhattan. A small one bedroom apartment where she had the bedroom and slept in the living area. Those were the days!
Margaret and her husband, Joe, just finished building a new home and moved in last week. Tatiana was a combination gift of house warming, birthday and lifetime gift of love.
I feel proud and honored that my work hangs in her home. I love you, Margaret!

By the way...my art creation "Mend" was accepted into Zinnia's "Heatbreak" exhibit....yeay!

One of a Kind

A commissioned Award Certificate, original. A very big undertaking to start and complete one of these as any professional calligrapher can tell you. It takes hours of concentrated energy to pull this off without a hitch. I was lucky this time. The completed size is 16x20".

Academy Award Nominations

I've been busy, as always, at this time. At the beginning of each year, for the past 10 years, in preparation for the Academy Award Nominations, I have had the honor of personalizing each nominee certificate and the name badges that each one gets at the luncheon where they present the nominations. It's the biggest deal in Hollywood and I'm proud to be a part of it. I am fortunate and considerate it a worthy experience every year as each person who is nominated receives a certificate with not only the information about their accomplishment but a little piece of my art. I stand humbled and in gratitude for the experience.
